About

⭐ Usyd Chancellor's Scholarship ⭐ UNSW Scientia Scholarship ⭐ 98.70 ATAR ⭐ HSC All Rounder ⭐ 1560 SAT ⭐ Physics + Mathematics Specialty ⭐ Hey! I'm Dillon and I graduated from Sydney Grammar School in 2023 as a HSC "All-Round Achiever" with an ATAR of 98.70, and an SAT score of 1560/1600. I have been offered both the prestigious Sydney University's Chancellor's Scholarship and UNSW's Scientia Scholarship, and am currently studying a double degree: Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce . I'm offering tutoring in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Science for students in years 7-12. Having recently graduated, I have a strong grasp on the HSC curriculum, understanding what markers specifically want to see and what they don't. I have a strong foundation of computational thinking, hence my focus on Mathematics and Physics, as well as communicating with people in an academic context, which is reflected by me coming 2nd in New South Wales in round 1 of the OzClo Australian Computational and Linguistics Olympiad. While I also tutor Mathematics, Chemistry and Science, I specialise in Physics, a subject I understand intuitively. This understanding allows me to break down and correctly answer even the most complex extended response questions. My HSC mark of 95/100 reflects this, as well as consistently coming 16th in my year's physics cohort (which was incredibly strong by the way, we had 4 of the 10 state rankers) for Grammar's assessments/trials. My Marks: (13 Units of Subjects) Physics: 95/100 Mathematics Ext 2: 92/100 Mathematics Ext 1: 92/100 Chemistry: 91/100 Classical Greek Continuers: 90/100 Classical Greek Extension: 47/50 English Advanced: 88/100 Despite the difficulty of my subjects, thanks to my clever study strategies and time management, I achieved the top bands in all of my subjects except English (high band 5). As I have a holistic approach to tutoring, I will go beyond merely "trying to just improve your marks" and will give you the guidance you've been needing in order to succeed and fulfil your academic potential. I will take you on a diverse academic journey, teaching fundamental concepts, how to answer challenging exam questions, efficient study skills, exam technique, and mindset to turn you into the ultimate academic weapon. I will specifically try and pinpoint your weaknesses in a subject, and work to turn them into strengths, while further sharpening your pre-existing strengths. I wasn't always naturally this good with maths and science though. During year 7 at North Sydney Boys, I was asked to stay after class because I was falling behind. For my early years of High School, I would struggle to get into the top classes for Maths and Science, and my real breakthrough only happened in years 11 and 12. I realised a lot of academic success relies solely on your mind, your habits, your work ethic, and your study skills. Let me tell you a little story about something I've learned that's transformed me to an all-rounder student, out of the many lessons I've learned on my academic journey to the top 1.3% of NSW. In Year 11, during a crucial Physics exam, I faced a significant challenge. Early into the exam, panic set in, significantly disrupting my focus. With time slipping away, I realized the importance of mindset in overcoming academic hurdles. By taking a moment to breathe and center myself, I managed to regain my composure and complete the exam successfully, finishing 8th in my year. This experience taught me that beyond mastering content, a calm and focused mindset is crucial for academic success. It's a lesson I bring into my tutoring, emphasizing not just subject knowledge but also the mental strategies needed to excel. These things can change your mark completely, taking you from a potential 70/90 to an 84/90, making all the difference in the world. If you're interested in taking your academics to the next level, feel free to send me a message, and I'll get back to you with any information you're looking for! My Extra Curriculars: Business Society, Yoga Club, Titration Club, Chemistry and Physics Olympiads, Pushup Challenge Student Mental Health Ambassador Hobbies: I like going to the gym, cycling, bouldering, and hanging out with my mates.
