RATES
$70/hr for 1-on-1 sessions for VCE units 1/2 or $80/hr for 3/4 students
$30-45 pp/hr for small groups of 2-4 VCE
$60/hr for 1-on-1 Year 10 students
For those already going to Chinese school and do not need lessons, I am editing Chinese oral drafts, and conducting oral practice at a rate of $40 an hour
Rates are negotiable for students with special circumstances
WHY ME?
I am a firm believer in “study smarter and not harder”, and I want my students to get a bang for their buck (I hated tutors who waste my time), so here’s my plan. I will NOT be simply repeating what you have been learning at school in lecture style instead, lessons will be personalised to suit the student's needs. A key weakness of most schools is the lack of student exposure to SAC and exam-style questions (why many students feel they have bad surprises during assessments and end up doing badly), so I have compiled worksheets filled with SAC and exam-style questions relevant to the current study design. We will target weaker areas to set a solid foundation before tackling harder concepts. Before each lesson, I will ask students to tell me what they would like to work on this week while keeping track of SAC timetables to plan regular revision to cement their learning. This way, we don’t waste each other’s time and both you and I feel happy :) You can bring questions into a session, I will also bring extra resources. My exclusive abundance of notes, summary notes, flashcards, practice qs and model essays will be accessible to my students. Trust me, as much as I am all for efficient studying, I love a good yap and make lessons enjoyable.
Why the price?
I have spent a lot of time creating my OWN comprehensive weekly lesson plans, weekly worksheets, tests, SAC and exam-style questions, flashcards and content powerpoints. These efficiently target commonly examined content, exposing students to SAC and exam-style questions early during the year. For Chinese: I help students draft their own unique oral script (both general conversation and detailed study) and provide an abundance of sample 17-19/20 essays. In conjunction to this, I allow students to ask me questions 24/7, and provide unique insight to study tips, creating study schedules and sometimes take on the role of careers counsellor. You won't find many tutors that provide this package deal.
Outside of our sessions, I will be available for you to ask questions, school or non-school related, I can pass on the study tips, life lessons, kdrama + cdrama recommendations (for the good vocab) etc. Year 12 was a tough year for me for a variety of reasons, so I am happy to be the occasional mental support and confidence booster for my students :)
