About

ATAR: 99.65 | HSC ALL-ROUNDER | 95/100 English Advanced | 49/50 English Extension 1 and Rank 1 Sydney Grammar Hi! I'm Tej, a 2023 graduate and scholar from Sydney Grammar School and studying Law/Economics at UNSW, looking to help you in your journey through high school English and Economics starting January 2024. My philosophy when it comes to tutoring stems from my own experiences as a student - despite the resources and quality of teachers at my school, ultimately with hundreds of students there's just no way to ensure that everyone is catered for fully, and some can be left with no answer to their greatest concerns and weaknesses. In my view, the role of a tutor is to hone in on these areas, turning weaknesses into immense strengths and complementing schoolwork with a personalised program to help achieve excellence. English: Marks - Advanced: 95/100, Extension: 49/50 (rank 1 internally) I understand that English is a variable subject, and each person learns and writes in their own way. My goal is not to teach you what to write, but to help you cultivate a style and approach to your English studies that works for YOU. As my student, you'll have access to a variety of resources, including critical readings, exemplar pieces and in depth textual analysis. Furthermore, you'll be guided through exam preparation specifically focused at maximising marks in your specific assessments/exams, and I'll waste no time in going through the fundamentals as well as hidden tips and tricks to get you those top marks. I'm not interested in wasting your time, so all lessons will be specifically catered to your needs - text analysis, essay craft, creative writing, short answer questions, all covered as well as so much more. I tutor from year 7-12, with HSC level expertise in the following texts for Advanced: 1984, King Henry IV: Part 1 and the poetry of Plath and Hughes, and for Extension: The Short Stories of Katherine Mansfield, Hamlet, and the poetry of Emily Dickinson. Economics: Marks: 94/100 A common misconception about Economics is that it's memorisation-heavy. From both my own experience and my research, a thorough knowledge of the syllabus and the way different principles interact is a much more fruitful approach, and one that I target in my Economics tutoring. You will have access to my bank of stats and figures, but our lessons will be focused on ensuring you understand the course in full detail, so that there is no possibility of you being thrown by a question. I strongly believe it can be an enjoyable and constructive subject, and I believe that a strong understanding of the course will help you feel the same way, which in turn will make any assessment or exam easier. Furthermore, we'll look at the different types of questions that can be asked in depth: multiple choice, short answer and essays, to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible tackling even the trickiest questions. My advertised rate refers to one-on-one, online lessons for preliminary and HSC students - for group lessons, in person arrangements and younger years, my rates may differ and we can have a chat about that. I am committed to helping you achieve your academic goals, and hopefully reducing the burden of what can be a challenging period. I try to maintain a laidback and comfortable atmosphere to make lessons as enjoyable and effective as possible. If you are interested, just shoot me a message - the button's right there!
