At Next Step Mentoring, our Co-founders Martin and Hugh are here to guide, empower and inform students on their path to academic success! Our mentors have worked with students for a combined total of 13 years, helping students ranging from year 7-12 and even university level students. Our aim as tutors is to reinforce positive study habits and develop helpful strategies that will help students confidently study whilst being an outlet for students to express their concerns and difficulties. We are friendly, responsive and dedicated tutors and are here to help in any way we can. Dr. Martin Refalo - Has recently completed his PhD in Exercise Science from Deakin University. From lecturing Human and Exercise Physiology to being an international speaker in Exercise and Nutrition Science, Martin has amassed considerable experience in public speaking and education. Martin seeks to develop students methods of thinking and problem solving, helping them become more self sufficient and effective learners. Hugh Ryan - Having graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne in 2023 and having recently completed VCE in 2020 with an ATAR of 93.7, Hugh remains up to date with VCE coursework and curriculum. With 3+ years of tutoring experience, he has accumulated numerous resources for students to freely use and refer to outside of session times. He hopes to develop students to become more independent thinkers and teach them study strategies that will help streamline their learning. Sessions can be conducted in-person or virtually.
