A bit about me... My name is Abiram Jeyanthan (Abi for short), and I am currently studying medicine at Flinders University. In 2024, I achieved a raw ATAR of 99.55, receiving A/A+ in Maths Methods, English, Chemistry, Biology, Nutrition (merit) and Research Project (merit). Having tutored for over a year at a professional institution, I have a strong background in providing education in a one-on-one or group setting for a wide variety of students (including those on the spectrum). _________________________________________________________________ What I believe... I strongly believe any student can soar academically given they have correct guidance, enough effort and effective strategies. Through my experience being tutored, going through year 12 and providing tutoring, I have realised the most important asset a teacher can provide is empowerment. My teaching style is to empower students to be able to handle challenges independently employing strategies and skills they already have to no longer be dependent. This could appear as equipping students with high-level study strategies and critical thinking skills. Alongside empowerment, the next principle I follow by is patience. Its always so easy to get down in the dumps comparing oneself to others, but I think in these moments it is critical to realise we have our own paths and journeys. They way I process certain information will be different to they way you interpret it, so I am always patient while I am by a student’s side. I will alway tackle the content in various angles until I find what works for you :). ________________________________________________________________ What will I offer... **Tailoring** Having a strong background in tutoring, I can tailor my services to your needs. This could be through different learning styles where I can interleave concepts (looking at ideas from a wider variety of angles). I’ll always be patient while I help you in your high school journey and will try my best to find what works for you 🙂. **Breakdown** I will always break down concepts to their bare bones, exploring the ‘whys?’ of ideas, so you can fully understand the fundamentals. By doing so, you will gain a much more intuitive sense of the content and rely less on rote memorisation which fails in the long term. This was an integral skill that allowed me to skyrocket my grades in year 12. **Drafting** I understand the pressure you might feel right before clicking the submit button for your assignment, contemplating whether it really is perfect or to the standard you want it to be. I’ll be the second pair of eyes for your work, going through with a fine comb and picking out details you might miss out on. Drafting prices have been soaring in recent times, so I’ll be able to provide a cheaper alternative of just $50 per 1000 words. **Progress** As I am your tutor, it will be my duty to ensure you are seeing some progress in your skills and abilities. Thus, I will have regular check-ups, keeping track of not only your knowledge of the subject but also your skills and abilities.
