Hi, I’m Dr Kris, an education-focused university academic based in Gosford, NSW. I hold a PhD in biotechnology and have taught at the University of New South Wales since 2022 within the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences.
During this time, I have taught and supported hundreds of students, including many first-year university students transitioning directly from the HSC. This has given me a strong understanding of the knowledge and study skills students need to succeed in the HSC and transition into university-level learning.
I can support students in Years 10–12 and at introductory university level, particularly in biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics and advanced science. I can also help students improve their scientific writing, laboratory reports, exam preparation, assignment planning and understanding of complex scientific concepts.
As an experienced university assessor, I understand what markers look for in written responses and assessments. I help students learn how to interpret questions, structure clear answers, use scientific terminology correctly and communicate their ideas with confidence.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging and tailored to each student’s needs. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through difficult topics at their own pace. I also have extensive experience supporting students with equitable learning plans and varying learning needs as well as advanced students who require more challenge.
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing students become more confident, independent and capable. Whether a student wants to improve their marks, prepare for an exam, strengthen their scientific writing or build a better understanding of science, I would be glad to support them.
