About
Hi! I am a VCE Psych teacher.
I've listed some questions that I get about tutoring so have a read & hopefully that will give you some insight as to whether we might be a good fit or not.
I have previously tutored students from the eastern and bayside areas of Melbourne. I am available to meet on Zoom/Teams and if you would like to do in person tutoring in 2023 you would need to come to my home in Richmond.
What is my role? What school do I work at?
- I'm currently on maternity leave. The teaching component of my role is a VCE Psychology teacher. I work at a high achieving independent school.
What is your experience with VCE Psychology?
- Experienced teacher of Unit 1-4 VCE Psychology over the past 10 years.
- Consistently having almost half of my students achieving 40+ study scores each year.
- Comprehensive knowledge of study design for VCE Psychology.
- Past assessor of VCAA exams.
What would my role be as a tutor?
- This is up to you - the student.
I will communicate with the student in advance of the session.
Questions and/or topics you would like to cover are best told to me in advance so I can prepare relevant resources and make the most of our hour together. This could include sending me a scanned copy of a SAC or some other work you have completed. The more organised the student, the more 'bang for your buck' you will get!
Different students might want different things - including recapping difficult concepts or questions to providing guidance on previous VCAA exam questions, or guidance on how to tackle the exam for a one off session.
Why is it worth paying more for an experienced teacher rather than a student who got a great ATAR?
- I have access to practice exams and practice SACs that you can use to practise your skills and I can provide feedback on.
- having VCAA assessor experience - invaluable.
- I know the expectations of what teachers look for when responding to a short answer question.
Is tutoring worth it?
- Completely depends on the student. I cannot work miracles (e.g teach Units 3 and 4 in an hour!) and always encourage students to work with their teachers and use tutors as an extra 'coach'.
I am also available for Junior Science tutoring if you feel that your child needs a hand in that area. I do find that juniors might need a one off or a few sessions on a tricky topic, rather than ongoing tutoring like VCE students.
If you have any questions, please get in touch :)
I am very relaxed, try to keep the sessions light and open to weekly, fortnightly or single sessions.
