About
Hi there! My name is Ewan and I have been tutoring IB physics and mathematics for 5 years.
I graduated from the Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology in 2020 after completing my IB diploma with a perfect score of 45. I am now a Masters student of mathematical and theoretical physics at Balliol College, University of Oxford. I will be commencing a PhD in theoretical physics at Oxford later in 2026.
As I live in the UK, my sessions are held online. This involves a call on Zoom in which the students and I share screens and write on digital whiteboards. This is a flexible and engaging format, making it easy to share materials during sessions.
For subjects like physics and maths, where a conceptual understanding is often more important than knowing how to answer specific question types, I offer a versatile tutoring style. I prioritise filling in knowledge gaps, which can come about from larger classroom-based learning. We will then put this learning into context by discussing answers for past exam problems. I also provide proof-reading for the IAs and EE in the IB.
For students interested in applying to the University of Oxford for physics or engineering, I can give advice and coaching for the Physics Aptitude Test (PAT) and interviews.
I am happy to be flexible with tutoring times, as the timezone difference between Australia and the UK can make it difficult to pre-advertise my availability. Feel free to get in contact and we can find a time that works!
