Hi! My name is Max Nguyen and I am currently a third year medical student at Monash University in Melbourne. At the end of 2022, I graduated from Trinity Grammar School in Sydney with a perfect IB score of 45 equivalent to an ATAR of 99.95.
As your IB tutor, with over 500 hours of tutoring experience, I will guide you through the long journey of the IB. As a recent 2022 graduate I can offer unique insights into the the IB courses that I completed and I continue to actively ensure that the content I teach is up to date as the IB is constantly changing. Rather than rote learning, I want to make sure that you gain a proper understanding of the content and implement the most effective study techniques and strategies to maximise your marks and potential!
Besides teaching the content, I am also more than happy to help with IAs and essays. The IA journey of drafting, redrafting and editing is a long and sometimes a little bit overwhelming process and I am here to make it easier for you.
Entry into Medicine:
On top of IB tutoring, I also offer tutoring for the entire medicine entry journey, whether it be for UCAT, medicine interviews or medicine applications (UNSW and JCU).
UCAT was by far one of the most challenging and time consuming tests that I went through, I completed the exam in 2022. The experience I gained from completing this exam was invaluable and I want to help others avoid the common mistakes that I made and maximise their marks, so that they have the best chance possible of getting into the competitive course of medicine.
I also have a vast amount of experience in medicine interviews and the different interview formats.

Rates + Details:
For years 7-9 my rate is $70/hr, if you are thinking about studying the IB I will make sure that I cater my tutoring towards IB learning. However, I also have extensive experience with HSC through accelerated maths and also having a close sibling choose the HSC route, and therefore can also adapt my teaching toward the style of the HSC.
For years 10-12 my rate is $80/hr. I offer a highly flexible service, where we can work on coursework, IAs etc.
I also offer an IA proofreading service where I will thoroughly read through your IA(s) and use the IB marking criteria to provide extensive feedback. I will then happily go through the feedback and any further suggestions in a one-hour private lesson. This is all for a single charge of $120.
For UCAT tutoring, I charge $80/hour and for medicine interview training I charge $90/hr.
