Hi there! I'm Nikita - a working actor, writer and High School and HSC English (Standard, Adv, Ext 1 and 2) and Drama tutor. My tutoring style is tailored to each student to ensure that they maximise their potential. I have a love of literature and creative writing and enjoy sharing this passion with my students. I want them to succeed because I believe with hard work and consistency ANY student can do incredibly well. ABOUT ME I graduated from Ascham in 2012, where I was appointed Head Girl and ranked first in English Extension 2. Following this, I embarked on a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics at ANU. Prior to completion, I was admitted to NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts) where I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. Since graduating NIDA, I have quickly accumulated acting credits, performing in multiple Sydney Theatre Company and Belvoir St Theatre productions, a one-woman show at the Opera House and have landed numerous roles on screen. As a writer, my debut play was shortlisted for ‘Playwriting Australia’s Max Afford Award’ in 2020. In 2021, I was the recipient of ATYP's highly competitive Rebel Wilson Comedy Commission. EXPERIENCE I have worked as a tutor for ‘Mind Body Goal’ for the last 6 years, during which time I also tutored my own students privately in English and/or Drama. My students have received excellent results — two of my students have received state rankings in English Extension 1, another performed their HSC monologue at Onstage and all have significantly improved their analytical skills, creative expression, comprehension skills and confidence in writing, attaining higher rankings and boosting their marks overall. LESSONS I conduct my lessons online. My hours are 4pm - 8pm, Monday to Thursday. My rates per 1 hour session are: $85 for Year 7-10 and $100 for Year 11 and 12. Any cancellations within 24hours of a lesson will incur a 50% fee. For those seeking in-person sessions, there is an opportunity for students to come to me, however I find Zoom works just as well, if not better. During these lessons, I support students as they work through the curriculum, focusing on essay writing - looking at structure, thesis and argument building and strengthening their analytical and critical thinking skills. Further, as a professional writer, I enjoy helping them develop their creative and discursive writing skills. As a working actor (NIDA graduate) with a love of theatre and playwriting, I also tutor students doing high school Drama who wish to improve their essay writing and performance skills. In the past, if students have needed extra support with grammar/comprehension/spelling, I have advised parents to purchase Excel textbooks to supplement their learning and/or conducted a weekly spelling test as part of the lesson. I expect my students to come to lessons prepared and ready to learn. My best students have received outstanding results (state rankings) because they work hard between our lessons too.
