About

📖2nd Year Medicine 📖Quickly increase marks! 📖Teach at University and HS ****************************** 👓 Academics ****************************** My name is Adam, and I am a 2nd year medical student at the Joint Medical Program offering tutoring for Mathematics, English and Biology for years 1-12 across all Australian Curricula. I have 2+ years experience empowering students who need help with study skills and personal responsibility as well as learning difficulties (e.g. ASD, ADHD). I achieved a 99.5+ ATAR equivalent GPA, and the highest performance band in English Extension, Maths Advanced, Biology, Chemistry and Japanese Continuers. I scored in the top 2% for UCAT (Medical School Exam) ****************************** 💪 What makes me stand out. ****************************** What makes me stand out most however is that I know the value of personal improvement. I did not attend tuition until year 11, and I am the first to pursue university within my family. In addition, I didn’t start studying English until I was 10 years old. My Year 11 marks were slightly above average. Even despite all the odds, I learned how to use the resources given to me most effectively to achieve a mark that reflects my best effort. This is clearly shown in how my marks for every single subject improved over the course of year 12 to what it is at the culmination of HSC and Medical Entry. What I cannot provide is all of the tuition a tutor has received over 6 years compacted into 3 months for their student. That is impossible, and blatantly false advertising. What I can provide however is the skillset, knowledge and resilience that will enable you to beat the odds despite wherever you are, and also the most improvement within the shortest period of time. I do this through focusing on the student, and allowing them to decide what they focus on for the lesson. This works for 2 reasons: 1. Reminds you that improving has to come from inside, and there is no magical pill for it and 2. Encourages a growth mindset, where you are responsible for your failures and also your successes too. ****************************** ✨🧑‍🎓 Student-focused teaching style ****************************** As a tutor, I pride myself on my holistic approach to education. I carefully consider the student’s educational background and confidence in their abilities on a case-by-case basis. I work with students online and make best use of modern technology. I also model working out on the screen for the student to follow, then collaborate with the student on their working out live. Empowering student’s with a growth mindset is one of my highest priorities. Embedding into students the idea that intelligence can be developed through dedication, effort, and learning not only prepares them to become high achievers, but prepared for life. I also set students up to be professional and prepared adults. I introduce time management strategies (e.g. Pomodoro method, Eisenhower Matrix, digital planners) and model by example in my professionalism and energetic clarity, so they can step on the right foot into the adult world as they finish year 12. ****************************** ✨ Reviews ****************************** "Thank you so much for this term with Torsten – I think you have been making a huge difference in his approach to his studies and just generally inspiring him! So thank you for all that you do. I wish you a happy and safe holiday and for sure we will be requesting your services in the new year if you are available." - Debbie "Rachelle & I wish to thank you for your efforts in working with Ryan this year. Without doubt with your support he has improved his understanding and interest in math. We look forward to next year and again linking up as Ryan works through Year 12." - Gormley Family
