I'm Eleanor, and I'm a current undergraduate student in Classics (that’s Latin and Ancient Greek) at Oxford University. I offer tutoring services in Year 11 and Year 12 English Advanced, Latin Continuers and -Extension, Classical Greek Continuers and -Extension and Chinese Continuers. English is one of the most difficult subjects in the school curriculum: in the exam it's just you and the page, and to nail the essays you need a deep understanding of your texts, on multiple levels of complexity. This is where I come in! While I struggled the most with English in Year 12, I developed systematic strategies throughout the year through which I ranked 1st internally for English Advanced, and achieved an HSC mark of 97/100. I provide thorough, detailed feedback on essays and creative-writing compositions, and also show exemplar work of my own to guide you to writing a Band 6 response. Every language has two sides: the rules and the idioms. While most students overlook the second side, the top scorers in a language subject are well versed in its idiomatic quirks, and when to use them. Intricate grammar constructions, formal expression, colloquial idioms: all of these are necessary for becoming as fluent as possible. I tutor Latin and Greek with a focus on immersion, getting you from learning grammar to understanding – and enjoying! – unadapted, authentic texts written by ancient authors. For Chinese, I similarly teach formal grammar alongside cultural idioms and everyday usage to help you master all four skill groups: reading, writing, listening and speaking. I offer online tutoring until the end of 2026, when I will take a break to focus on my university exams. I look forward to working with you!
