๐ข About Me
Hi, Iโm Bensen! I graduated from James Ruse in 2022, where I ranked 1st internally for Maths Extension 1 AND 2, 2nd internally for Chemistry and 3rd internally for Physics. Iโm currently studying a Doctor of Medicine at Monash University.
Rigorously preparing for the maths exams at James Ruse has taught me EXCLUSIVE insider knowledge about the most effective study methods, and countless exam tips and tricks for the HSC. Hereโs one:
โญ The easiest way to succeed in HSC mathematics is to start early, and practise regularly
Thatโs what makes me an effective tutor. I teach students a firm foundation, but I focus on how to answer questions and regular, daily practice. Because HSC mathematics is like riding a bike: you can learn the theory of how to ride a bike for countless hours (like learning mathematical theory), but what matters is whether or not you can ride it (answering questions in an exam).
๐ข Why choose me as a tutor?
๐ EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO RESOURCES ๐
I have detailed notes on the full Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics syllabus, over 200+ past papers (all of which I have done) and ENDLESS practice questions from textbooks, worksheets and mock exams. Practice is crucial for maths, so having a source of questions is vital.
๐INDIVIDUALISED TUTORING ๐
People know me for having an extensive knowledge of past paper questions. Not only can I use this knowledge to collate a specific list of questions that can help target the areas a student is weak at, it also means I can frequently combine questions from different topics - a common way HSC creates hard questions.
๐ EXTENSIVE UNDERSTANDING OF THE NEW SYLLABUS๐
I know the syllabus from back to front, the relationships between topics from 2U to 4U and major traps that most students are not aware of (2 of which were tested in the 2023 4U exam). This can be useful when it comes to clinching a few exam marks in an exam!
๐TUTORING EXPERIENCE๐
I have 4+ years of tutoring experience, with over 1000+ hours of tutoring in both private and group settings.
I have also taught students from an extensive range of schools, such as James Ruse, Baulkham Hills, North Sydney Boys, North Sydney Girls, Sydney Girls, Sydney Boys, Normanhust Boys, Hornsby Girls, Northern Beaches Secondary College, Penrith Selective, Sydney Grammar School, Abbotsleigh, Pymble Ladies College, SCEGGS Darlinghurst, Barker College, Girraween and more!
๐24/7 ONLINE SUPPORT ๐
Contact me anytime you have a question about your school work, homework or studies in general. Regular assistance is important, so I never hesitate to help out if needed.
๐ข Why start 4U preparation early?
The majority of students will SEVERELY underestimate the importance of their first Year 12 exam. They treat it like a Year 11 exam, yet it will affect their internal rank and ATAR nearly as much as their second or third exam will. This becomes an issue if tutoring centres only begin teaching Extension 2 Mathematics in Term 4.
Maths requires practice. Thatโs why starting early is CRUCIAL for a good score.
๐ข How do classes run?
Group classes for Extension 2 will begin in Term 2 at a time which suits everyone. They will run for 2 hours, starting with a revision quiz for the previous week's content, before covering new content and practising questions to master the different ways an exam could test that specific piece of content. This process will repeat until all the necessary content is covered for that week. Classes will run online, over zoom.
There will also be weekly homework, which will be individually marked and personalised feedback given.
You DO NOT need to understand the full Year 12 Extension 1 course before you begin learning the Extension 2 course. This is only necessary once you get halfway into the 4U course, and the prerequisite knowledge will be taught in class anyway.
A structure of the first term is as follows:
Week 1: Introduction to Complex Numbers
Week 2: Complex Numbers in Polar & Euler Form
Week 3: Complex Numbers in Vector Form
Week 4: Graphing Complex Loci
Week 5: Mid-term Exam (covering Weeks 1-4 content)
Week 6: 3U Prerequisites & Complex Number Consolidation
Week 7: De Moivreโs Theorem
Week 8: Roots of Unity
Week 9: Complex Polynomials
Week 10: End of Term Exam (covering Weeks 1-9 content)
Please donโt hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
