I'm Kim and I have been teaching VCE English for 6 years after transitioning from pursuing a career in law. During the course of my teaching career, I have taught both junior and senior English as well as Literature, but have specialised predominantly in VCE English. As such, I am highly familiar with the current study design and expectations for VCE English and can tailor my instruction, tasks and marking with the VCAA assessment criteria and particularly the end of year exam in mind. Furthermore, I have taught a variety of texts and am familiar with the best methods of breaking down a text for student comprehension. I offer a personable style and a tailored teaching approach to target my students' needs and goals. Establishing rapport with my students is a priority, as well as understanding their specific learning style. As a teacher, I have worked with a range of students with different learning needs and I am able to adapt my approach to suit accordingly. Overall, my focus is to build student confidence to complete timed writing for SACs and the end of year exam. I am also happy to make myself available to my students between tutoring sessions via email.
