Hi! I’m Gurmehar and I am a 3rd year Bachelor of Laws/Commerce student and a Dalyell Scholar at the University of Sydney!
With over 3 years of experience working at some of the best tutoring companies and as a private tutor, to numerous students from top Selective Schools (James Ruse, Baulkham Hills, Girraween, Penrith, Hornsby Girls, Sydney Boys and Normanhurst Boys) I have combined my own experiences and unique techniques to help you not only survive but thrive in HSC English by maximising your marks.

My teaching style is highly adaptive and flexible to ensure you can master each Module, deconstruct complex concepts and get a glimpse into a HSC marker's mind to be well prepared for your exams. No two students are alike, and I'm here to make English as painfree as possible so you genuinely start to enjoy the subject. I focus on being approachable and engaging to discuss and explore ideas so we can turn them into those band 6 essays you want!

I graduated in 2021 from Penrith Selective High School where I received the PSHS Outstanding Achievement in English Award for Ranking 1st (out of 162) in BOTH English Advanced and English Extension 1 in BOTH year 11 and 12, as well as an Academic Distinction for English Extension 2.

Gurmehar's lessons were always engaging and fun while being super helpful at the same time. She tutored me through Yr 11 and 12 Advanced and Extension 1 English, bringing me from an average 70/100 to scoring a 87/100 for Advanced and 42/50 for Extension 1. I not only furthered my understanding of the texts we studied but greatly improved my control over language. My creative/discursive writing seeing a massive improvement from the beginning of Yr 11 in the Reading to Write module to my creative responses in Craft of Writing and Literary Worlds. My essays have also improved with the development of my analysis in texts such as Crucible, TS Eliot, Tempest, ST Coleridge and Left hand of Darkness.
I greatly recommend her as a tutor!! :)

Gurmehar is an excellent English tutor who has helped me fix my essay structures in English advanced and address the subject with a fresh perspective whilst maintaining the same analytical structure which derives marks. By helping me realise the importance of strong contextual backing as well incorporating ,much of the syllabus into. Y prices of work Gurmehar has helped me improve my English. As a tutor who listens it is quite helpful to know that there is someone who can help you in English.

I am so lucky to have Gurmehar as my English tutor for my HSC English Advanced studies. Having just finished the preliminary course with Gurmehar for English Advanced, I placed 1st for my 11 course. Not only do I feel that I have grown academically in my English writing proficiency and analysis of text skills extending from Gurmehar's bank of expertise and application to texts, I feel that Gurmehar has been an outstanding mentor guide, supporting me on a more holistic level, which is much needed when completing Stage 6, considering the demanding nature. Gurmehar is genuinely dedicated to her students, and actively tailors her lessons to the weakness areas. I feel that my writing style has improved significantly across imaginative, discursive areas as well as more formal essay writing for critical studies, as Gurmehar consistently provides feedback which is specific and extremely helpful in boosting responses to higher marks.

Gurmehar's lessons are really informative and I have definitely learnt a lot ever since I started being tutored by her. Previously, my marks have been around low-mid B but ever since my marks have significantly improved and are now in the A range. She has an extensive knowledge of English and writing essays which is obviously really helpful. If you would want help to boost your marks and understanding of English I would highly recommend anyone to her.

Gurmehar has been my Adv. and Ext1 English tutor for the past year. She has helped me immensely in the development of my creative writing, essay writing and understanding of prescribed texts, which lead to an improvement in my marks from a B/C to an A range. She is really friendly and open, which makes her lesson fun and asking questions easy. Gurmehar is really flexible with her teaching which allows her to adjust our lessons to fit my needs whenever I need help with an upcoming assignment. I highly recommend!
