About

Currently intaking students for 2024 over the holiday period. Holiday classes are designed to develop fundamentals before beginning semester 1 content. Individual and small-group classes have commenced! About me and what I offer: Hi! My name's Dillon, and I graduated with an ATAR of 99.70 from Narrabundah College in 2019. I am currently in my second year of study in the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery at the ANU. I have also completed an undergraduate degree in the Bachelor of Health Science at ANU (7 GPA). Having grown up and attended school in the ACT, I am fully acquainted with the ACT mathematics syllabus. Through my 8+ years of teaching experience, I have worked with students from several schools across the ACT, including Narrabundah College, Radford College, Gungahlin College, Dickson College, various high schools, and more. Individual and group tutoring are currently offered in: • Specialist Maths A / Core / Specialist Methods • Specialist Maths B / Options / Double Specialist Maths • Maths Methods • Year 7 - 10 Maths My tutoring approach: In my personal and professional tutoring experiences, studying mathematics is very similar to the sciences. Unlike the schooling system, which assigns exercises to students, I heavily emphasise that students fully understand mathematical concepts before exploring computationally-based textbook exercises. This enables students to transfer their skills from problem to problem and apply their knowledge to unfamiliar questions. In this way, my students can feel confident in their ability to solve both; computationally-based questions and more difficult extension questions involving problem-solving. Furthermore, my tutoring approach involves engaging with course material prior to its delivery in school (pre-learning). Pre-learning is a technique that both myself and past students have seen success with as it enables time during class to be a time where concepts and computations can be consolidated. Pre-learning has the additional benefit of allowing students to have extra time to farmiliarise themselves with the material before exams. To help students with exams, I have accumulated a wealth of resources, including multiple textbooks, past exams, and several student-specific mock exams (developed by myself). Expressions of interest: I am currently intaking students for 2024 over the holiday period, though 2024 intake is VERY limited! Holiday classes focus on developing the fundamentals before beginning pre-learning. It is best to contact me on my phone number. Rates: $40 per hour for small group sessions (2-5 students) - bring a friend! $75 per hour for one-on-one sessions

Reviews

I did tutoring with Dillon from year 10 till the end of year 12 and could not recommend him highly enough. He was always able to break down complex concepts and make them much easier to grasp which I found extremely helpful as it allowed me to understand math beyond number crunching. Dillon was very patient and friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to help me succeed. He was also quite flexible with lesson hours and was able to schedule extra lessons closer to exam time if I wanted/needed them. Overall, a great experience with Dillon and I would highly recommend his tutoring classes, especially to anyone going into years 11 and 12.
