Hi! I'm Elaine, a UQ Medical student from Sydney. With over 5 years of tutoring high school students (from years 6-12), I'm ready to help my students reach their full potential as both a tutor and also a mentor.
English is a daunting subject and widely thought of as the 'hardest' subject to study as there is no correct answer. I aim to help students tackle their assessment tasks and ultimately find joy in studying English as it is a skill that will follow them well into university studies! I am also extensively involved with the UQ Faculty of Medicine, having been the 2022 President of the Premedical Society and the current First Year Representative for the Medical Society, and am happy to help answer any questions and guide you on your dream path.
I am currently tutoring online and in-person (State Library & Brisbane Square Library).
Group tutoring available too for up to a maximum of 3 people per group - great if you want to be with friends and will be priced lower than individual tutoring.
I am also offering essay/creative marking at $40/piece (Years 11-12) and $30 for subsequent remarks.

Having Elaine as my tutor has been a very enjoyable experience! I really valued her ability to explain concepts comprehensively and in a structured manner that was easy to follow, which has really set her apart from my past tutors. Sometimes tutors will explain things from the perspective of already knowing all the content and that can be frustrating for someone learning from square one, but Elaine has been really good at taking these things into account. Tutoring sessions with her were always interactive and I always found myself very comfortable asking questions whenever need be (and however silly the questions may be as well). I highly recommend her if you are looking for a tutor!

When I started year 11, English was my worst subject by far. I found it difficult to analyse texts, and I did not enjoy the subject. Elaine is a passionate and dedicated tutor that was able to help me understand all texts and assessments with deep understanding, making sure I was comfortable with the concepts at all times. She was incredibly patient and had consistent communication and punctuality throughout our time together. Even though it was there were large amount of concepts, she was completely understanding and worked perfectly with the schedule given. By the end of Year 12, my English rank had skyrocketed to the Top 10 (from bottom 15). Also shoutout to Elaine for answering my last minute English questions in the middle of the night!

Elaine has been an excellent English tutor for me. In the time that Elaine has been working with me, I have seen a significant improvement in my language skills and my marks in english.
Elaine is extremely knowledgeable and skilled in teaching English grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. She is able to explain complex concepts in a way that is easy for me to understand. Her teaching methods are engaging and interactive, which has helped me to stay focused and motivated during their lessons.
Elaine is also very patient and understanding when it comes to working with me. She is able to identify areas where I need extra help and provide me with tailored support to help me progress.
In addition, Elaine is highly organised and professional, always preparing well for each lesson and providing detailed feedback on my progress.
