I am offering VCE History Revolutions Tutoring for the French and Russian Revolutions. Since completing Revs in 2018, I have had 4 years of tutoring with 60% of students receiving 40+ ss. My tutoring philosophy is centered on encouraging greater understanding and passion for History whilst maximising VCE success. With me you will gain a nuanced understanding of the underlying factors of both revolutions but also study skills in advanced history revs style essay writing, study habits and other academic skills crucial for success in VCE. A little bit about me: • 49 SS in History Revolutions (2018) in Year 11. 99+ ATAR. Graduated from MHS (2019) • Year 5 Monash Medicine Student • 4 Years’ worth of tutoring students from a variety of backgrounds and starting academic aptitude • 70% students 40+ from 2020. 2023 results: 1 student achieved a raw score of 50. Other students achieved scores of 44, 42 and 40. How I teach: • Unfortunately, History revs is notorious for being a difficult subject without the high scaling that the effort put in deserves. However, this was undoubtedly my favourite subject in VCE and I want to share this passion with my students. My style caters for all levels of students. What is important to me is that you not only achieve success in revs but have fun doing so. • Lessons will be focused on 2 aspects: Content and Exams. • Content: When teaching content, I present written notes with precise key points of each major point of the study exam. Content is specific for the study design. Building on this base knowledge—I will provide deeper analysis and explanation of the how and why of events ensuring students have the nuanced knowledge to exceed the 40+ barrier. • Quotes, Stats and Dates: The bane of every history student! Students will receive in depth- quote banks, stats and dates. 500+ quotes and stats with detailed timelines and explanations. These have been synthesised from 30+ historians over both revolutions and have been refined for more than 5 years. I also recommend the highest yield stats and quotes to memorise. • Exams: Written responses to be completed as practice both during and out of class—sorry folks the best way to get better at essays is to WRITE THEM. My style focuses on in depth- review of essay structure and material. I provide my own sample responses for reference, with individualised feedback and written reports which detail on refining essay technique to get the study score you want. Lessons: • How long? Tutes will be 1 or 2 hours (depending on preference) every week. • Where? I prefer to tutor in person and operate from the Eastern Suburbs (Box Hill area).
