But I was not always excelling. 🌕 𝗠𝗬 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 Chemistry wasn’t always easy. There were a lot new concepts, like intermolecular forces in module 1, that didn’t really resemble junior science. I didn’t have a solid understanding from the start about why things were or how to link concepts, so I know how overwhelming it can be trying to fill in those gaps. Difference 1: When learning, I put in extra effort to understand why a formula is true, where is it applied, why it is so important for questions. Now when teaching, I show the meaning and the motivation behind concepts, which helps students “get” them on a deeper level and thus be able to answer harder questions in exams. Difference 2: I was going through content too quickly, which meant I had a lot of misunderstanding. Once I forced myself to precisely think about how each step or conclusion was connected, the concepts began to “click” and my marks climbed.
