Although I excelled at maths in my senior years, scoring well in my external hsc and being ranked high internally, my grades weren't always the best. During year 10 and 11 I was ranked in the second half of my cohort and it felt like I couldn't achieve the results I wanted no matter how hard I studied. As such, I recognise that pure knowledge and memorisation is not the complete answer, and instead a reformed approach prioritising understanding and active learning make up the other part of success. I understand the struggle for motivation that every student is affected by, having experienced it myself.
