About

Hi everyone, my name is Luke and I am currently a student at the University of Melbourne, studying the Bachelor of Biomedicine. In 2020, I graduated with an ATAR of 99.95 from Westbourne Grammar School, placing me in the top 0.05% of the state. For 2023, I am offering small group tutoring in Specialist Mathematics, Mathematical Methods and Chemistry for Units 1,2,3 & 4. I achieved a raw 50 study score in Methods and Chemistry and also obtained a raw 47 study score in Specialist Mathematics. I have immensely enjoyed tutoring each of these subjects for small groups, as I am able to impart advice and strategies which not only worked for me, but also explain methods for students to best utilise their time when studying. These are subjects in which I am not only confident with, but I am extremely passionate about. I aim to help my students obtain confidence with the content in each of these VCE subjects that are important prerequisites for many university courses. I believe I am a very patient tutor, who is able to effectively communicate and adapt to the students I am teaching to best meet their needs. Studying Methods and Specialist Maths has always been my favourite subject and despite studying biomedicine, I have always tried to continue to improve and expand my knowledge of maths by taking calculus and engineering subjects at university. In group sessions focused on these subjects, I review and revise the most difficult areas of study to enable students to feel more confident with these topics prior to school SACs and their final exams. This involves me utilising past exam questions which a low percentage of the state received the correct answer on to help students overcome the hurdles faced by many VCE students. I also allocate time to answering any specific questions that my students have to provide the individualised support which they may not be able to attain in large classroom environments. Studying Chemistry Chemistry is a subject that can cause a lot of difficulty for so many students due to the wide range of mathematical and theoretical questions which can be challenging to prepare for. I utilise my chemistry classes to teach techniques that can be used to answer the aforementioned wide range of questions so students don't have to feel that they need to memorise extensive lengths of content, but instead adopt effective studying strategies to maximise their results. Like the mathematical subjects, I allocate time in every class to cover difficult exam questions and also any queries that students need to be clarified. The small nature of these classes allows me to provide personalised and thorough feedback for each student. My goal is to enable students to feel confident with their studies and to not dread studying. I support my students on a 24/7 basis, meaning any questions they have concerning content, university courses, advice or just needing someone to talk to, I am accessible for. If you would like to have a trial lesson or ask any further questions, please contact me!
