Hello, my name is Finn. I am completing my Juris Doctor at the University of Melbourne after completing my Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Accounting. I tutor VCE Math Methods, 7-10 Math, and VCE Accounting.
The most important thing about me is that I was not an elite scorer; however, I know more about learning and self-improvement through my struggles, and I am better at it. From almost dropping out in year 10 to achieving a 93.05 ATAR, I have a lot of experience with self-reflection and learning how to learn. My knowledge and experience can help my students grow as learners and academically.
I have over 500 hours of tutoring experience, and to ensure quality, I work with at most five clients at a time. I give my students extra time when they need it, such as additional sessions when a test is near or when a concept is tough.
A+, A+, and A+ in VCE Mathematical Methods 2021
A, A, and A+ in VCE Accounting 2021
6.3/7 GPA - Bachelor of Commerce, University of Melbourne, 2024.
- HD average in Accounting.
- HD average in Statistics, Micro and Macro Economics.
Investments Intern at a leading private credit fund, MCP, 2023.
FIG - External Audit Intern at PwC, 2024.
Through my challenges, I found that understanding the concept rather than written learning tended to result in higher growth and retention in my marks. I apply this same methodology through different explanation strategies, such as pure arithmetic, visuals, and in a real-life context.
I aim to grow my student's scores and self-confidence, fostering enthusiasm and commitment to a goal.
A healthy mindset is even more important than intellectual understanding. Self-confidence affects scores, as it causes confusion and second-guessing, especially for those already unconfident. Moreover, a healthy attitude can help reduce exam anxiety. I was (still am to a lesser degree) a massive sufferer of exam anxiety and would not be where I am without a toolbox to deal with it.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like to talk more.
