|| 99.95 ATAR / 45 IB || 4+ Years Experience || UNSW Scientia Scholar || UNSW Law & Engineering ||
Hi there! My name is Maddison, and I'm a student studying a double degree of Law and Engineering with honours at UNSW. I graduated dux with an IB score of 45 (ATAR 99.95) from Canberra Grammar School in 2021, and I offer tutoring in IB, HSC, and junior (Years 7-10) subjects.
I began tutoring in 2018, meaning that I now have over 6 years’ of tutoring experience in multiple subjects, with students ranging from Years 7-12. My tutoring style is adaptable, and I work with my students to find the teaching method and techniques that are the most effective for them as an individual.
I have found that students achieve the best results when they are supported holistically. It’s the concept of giving someone a fish versus teaching them how to fish - instead of just helping my students ‘get through’ a set of problems, I focus on providing them with a toolbox of problem solving, critical thinking, and exam technique skills that will help them attack the next set of problems more efficiently. Of course, we’ll also make sure that original set of problems is completed and accurate!
During my IB Diploma Programme, I took the following subjects:
* SL Mathematics - Analysis & Approaches
* SL Biology
* SL French B
* HL Geography
* HL Chemistry
* HL English A Literature
I received a 7 (top possible mark) for each of my subjects, along with my school's Year 12 award for SL French B and HL English Literature. I wrote my extended essay under 'World Studies', combining Psychology and Geography, and also received the full 3 bonus points.
I have experience tutoring Mathematics, Sciences, English, French, and Social Sciences (History and Geography) for Years 7-10. For the HSC, I tutor English (all levels), French (beginners and continuers), Mathematics (standard and advanced), Geography, Biology, and Chemistry. For the IB Diploma Programme, I tutor English A Literature, French B (ab initio and SL), Mathematics (AA and AI SL), Geography, Biology, Chemistry, and can provide support for ToK, CAS, and the extended essay.
As I tutor many different subjects, I am uniquely able to provide interdisciplinary support and help students maximise their grades across all study areas. Again, providing this type of support is a top priority for me as a tutor - I am always only a message away, and am more than happy to help with tricky homework questions and explanations outside of regular lessons.
As well as tutoring, I also offer proofreading and written work feedback services to help you polish all IAs and assignments before submission. I offer both in-person and online tutoring, depending on what works best for you.
For any enquiries or questions, just send me a message - I am happy to move the conversation to phone/email upon request. I look forward to hearing from you!
