About

I am a qualified Secondary School teacher. I work with a very wide range of English, English Literature and EAL students from Year 7 to 12, motivating and helping them with the skills and knowledge to do their best. For junior students, Years 7 to 9, I concentrate on basics: Spelling, Grammar, Comprehension, logic and reasoning and written expression. At this level it is important to motivate the struggling students as well as inspire the high achievers. I also work with students who aspire to gaining scholarships and to do well in the Naplan tests. With students from Years 10 to 12, we work on responses to set texts: themes, characters and literary devices with a focus on essay writing skills. Having many years' experience teaching English and English Literature, I have extensive knowledge and notes on all the set texts. We also work on the language / argument analysis component of the VCE assessment and the persuasive oral. At VCE level, I also specialize in teaching students to do well in ENGLISH LANGUAGE. Some students choose Eng. Lang. for Year 12 because the study score is graded up! I work with senior students to achieve their best results in SACs and exams. Last year all of my Year 12 English students achieved final marks over 30 and in previous years my English students have achieved results of 40 to 49 /50. My Top Student scored 50/50 for English and was on the Nightly News with the Top 5 achievers in VCE, Victoria. I also help university students with their essay writing skills. Students wanting to transition from completed Science or Engineering degrees to Medicine have been successful following my tuition in the English component of the GAMSAT exam.

Achievements

  • Winner of the Goethe Poetry Award. Top of Victoria in AMEB Music exam. Many of my English students have scored results in the top 8% of Victoria.
