Hi! I'm Darryl, a 2021 graduate from James Ruse with an ATAR of 99.80, currently studying Medicine at UNSW. In 2021, I received the following internal/state ranks:
- 1st in Maths Extension 1 (STATE RANK - 8)
- 2nd in Maths Extension 2 (STATE RANK - 2)
- 4th in Chemistry (STATE RANK - 8)
With my 5+ years of experience and teaching over 100 students including from schools such as James Ruse, Baulkham Hills, Sydney Boys, North Sydney Boys, Sydney Grammar High School and Ascham, both 1-on-1 and group tutoring, I have an extensive understanding of how to tailor lessons based on their strengths, weaknesses and learning style, and I am very passionate about helping students not only in academics, but in every aspect of high school life!
My teaching approach focuses on building a strong foundational understanding, and developing a skillset needed to apply that understanding to breaking down and solving more challenging questions. I teach from a set of resources I’ve developed through my own state-ranking experience - refined to comprehensively cover the syllabus and supported by a question bank and exams designed to test understanding over rote memorisation. Outside of class, I offer ongoing support with any questions students may have, including help with school assessments, depth studies, and other individual needs, ensuring they feel confident and well-prepared in all areas.
