About

I offer private instrumental tuition in piano, flute, recorder and music theory as well as tuition in German and Chinese. I have completed a Bachelor of Music (Musicology) and a Bachelor of Arts in German and Chinese at Adelaide University. Currently I am undertaking training with the Encore on Keys music programme to become licensed as a teacher within that programme. I have been teaching music for 7 years, working with predominantly school-aged students. My work has involved teaching private and small group lessons, running student ensembles and regularly organising concert performance opportunities. My teaching approach is comprehensive, aiming to develop students into well-rounded musicians by teaching skills in performance, technique, aural, sight reading and music theory. I am also student-centred in my teaching and able to incorporate activities into the lessons that address each student's learning needs and interests. This makes the lessons great fun for the students, helps them to enjoy practising, and inspires them to strive for maximum success.

My (now 8 year old) daughter Josephine has been attending piano lessons with Jennifer since the beginning of 2021. I have been very happy with her musical education over this time. Jennifer is a thoughtful and considerate teacher who has developed a broad range of musical skills including musical “ear” and voice tone/pitch as well as rhythm. Jennifer has held regular “concerts” which have been a great confidence boost and helped in other aspects of Josephine’s education eg public speaking. Jennifer is flexible and adaptable with her teaching style to suit different learning styles. This has helped Josephine to enjoy her practice and I rarely have to remind her to do her music homework! I would not hesitate to recommend Jennifer to anyone considering piano tuition.

Jennifer Brohier is a highly qualified flute teacher, and showed dedication, reliability, punctuality, passion for music, excellent preparation and understanding of the importance of ensemble work as well. Jennifer drove two hours each way to teach flute lessons at our workplace. I had been trying for six years to find a face to face teacher. Jennifer would prepare and arrange music for the three students to learn and play in ensemble with her as well, which was really motivating. She is able to gauge the level of expertise and make it suitable for each student to achieve success. Jennifer capably organized mini concerts for students to showcase their progress to other students and parents regularly. Jennifer is a great fit for this role because she is a highly accomplished flutist and musician, and because of the reasons listed above. Additionally Jennifer is very accommodating and flexible with timetabling and rescheduling when necessary, and Jennifer is excellent at communicating about any organizational needs. She is proactive in making lessons successful. Jennifer exudes joy and genuine love for music making, and works hard at building relationships with students. I really appreciate how hard she worked at making our programme work. Jennifer is always willing to give new things a go, including teaching adults as well or filling in where there is a need. Travel policy

I am happy to travel to students' homes if necessary but the charge will be $2 extra per half hour of tutoring (so the hourly rate will be $64.00.)
