So why pick me to be your tutor? ✍ Flexible Teaching is my forte. Whilst many tutors may preach a singular teaching style as the key to a student’s success, I believe that adaptability is instead what makes or breaks the marks a students can achieve. Afterall, no two students are ever the same. And that is where flexible teaching comes in – depending on the student, I can systematically break down topics they find hard into easy-to-understand chunks to explain, point out the intuitional thinking needed behind different types of questions they struggle with or begin with fundamental principles that work towards more complex scenarios. In this way, I adopt different ways of collaboration with my students, enabling them to not only take in information that I provide but to actually take the extra step to understand WHY things work the way they do and the thought process that leads to the answer. 🎓 I promote UNDERSTANDING above all else. What’s the point of learning something if you aren’t going to understand it fully? The reason why many students fail to grasp harder concepts is because they fail to go beyond the static memorisation grind that many believe to be the necessary strategy to succeed in school. And don’t get me wrong, memorisation is a skill that is needed, but it is not the most important one. Anyone can read a textbook and list definitions of the different types of isomers in chemistry or the shapes of graphs in mathematics, but tests nor exams will ever ask a student to merely retrieve information and write it down. Rather, retrieving the information IS ONLY THE FIRST STEP. The steps that come next are often the ones that most students struggle with, and that is APPLICATION OF INFORMATION, and if a student doesn’t understand the information they are given, they will not know where, what, or how to apply the information they have. And this is why exams/tests are so hard – sure, everyone can have the pre-requisite base knowledge to answer the questions, but not everyone knows how to use this information to answer the question. Furthermore, anyone can do worksheets upon worksheets or practice exams upon practice exams to try to cover as many different question types in the hopes that the same ones will be on the ATAR paper, but this will never be the case – it is impossible to know every type of question. Instead of this brute force method, it is 100% more efficient and easier to instead learn the skill of analysing new types of questions and finding out what they really are testing. So that’s where I can help: with years of experience developing strategies in cultivating methods of UNDERSTANDING means of application ranging from basic tests/assignments to the ATAR, I have encountered hundreds of different types of questions and am well versed in showing my students how they too, can acquire the necessary skills to tackle any type of question. 🗣 There are extents to my tutoring, but I’ll always do my best. As your tutor, you can be assured I will always be doing my utmost to further your learning and understanding. As the house vice-captain and school prefect at my school, I have had extensive experience interacting with my peers and especially younger students in all fields of life, not just academic. I have had extensive experience in the classroom, often helping younger students at my school with any questions they may have as well as private tutoring experience ranging from music and academic for over a year. The students I have worked with have all had a range of different skill levels, whether it be the below-average student looking to turn around their prospective grades, or the above-average students looking to go above and beyond to push their limits, but the one thing they all have in common is the progress they made – improvements in determination, marks, intuition, and knowledge will appear through this collaborative effort. 🚑 Okay, I lied – I also do UCAT tutoring! Are you a prospective med student looking to pursue a career in medicine? Then, you may have heard of the UCAT – a test notorious for being the gatekeeper of many student’s dreams of medicine. It is hard – very hard, and that’s exactly why I’m here: to make it an easier affair. You can rest easy knowing that I have all the necessary skills and knowledge of the strategies that work the best given my experience of having been in the exact same shoes a year ago. Furthermore, I ended up achieving a 95th percentile in the UCAT with a score of 3070 and have gained medical interviews to universities such as University of Queensland, Curtin, and UWA. I am an all-rounder, so have strengths in all sections of the UCAT and can help with many of the difficulties students may encounter in their study for UCAT, so if you are looking for a UCAT tutor with proven results and skills, message me! I am now a Bachelor of Biomedicine student accepting a Chancellor’s Scholarship offer to the University of Melbourne. -- Of course, as a recent high school graduate, not only am I comfortable with setting up and using online tutoring technology just as effectively as in person tutoring, I also have a deep understanding of the WACE curriculum and the often tenuous requirements of school. If you want an enthusiastic, strategic and collaborative educator that not only has the required knowledge of each subject, but also the necessary means of passing on these skills to a student, feel free to send me a message! I appreciate your reading and hope to be able to help you on your path to excellence in whatever you may pursue.
