Hi! I'm Alana, a 2021 HSC graduate from Hornsby Girls High School, currently studying Law and Commerce at UNSW. I have experience tutoring both freelance as well as under a company (ATARNOTES/TuteSmart), holding lessons with both groups and on a one-on-one basis. I have worked with students of all ages and am willing to do both face-to-face tutoring at a public place or through an online medium. Having gone through the process myself, I have extensive expertise and resources for the subjects I teach, not only in terms of content but also how to maximise on-the-day test performance. I am a firm believer that any student is capable of receiving a high mark, no matter the starting point, through hard work and an in-depth understanding of the subject which I am eager to facilitate. The subjects I teach are Maths Extension 1, Maths Advanced, Economics and Software Design and Development for both Prelim and HSC students. I am also available to teach Mathematics for Years 7 - 10. Overall, I am super passionate about my students and find tutoring a highly rewarding and fulfilling past time :) In the past year alone, I've helped and seen so many of my students grow, improve and gain confidence! I have been tutoring since January 2022 and have a valid WWCC.

Education

I studied Maths Extension 1, Maths Advanced, Economics, Software Design and Development, English Extension 1 and English Advanced at Hornsby Girls High School, achieving good marks in all the above subjects. Currently, I am studying a Bachelor of Law/Commerce at UNSW.

Alana has been tutoring me in Mathematics, English and Economics. When i initially began tutoring with Alana, I was at the bottom of my classes, but I have recently seen significant improvements in my grades, going from 2nd last in my Economics cohort to top 20 within the grade, I have improved my Mathematics rank by over 40 ranks, and have seen heavy improvements in my English marks.
