Hi there! My name is Claire, and I'm a 2021 graduate of Sydney Girls High School with 5 years of tutoring experience. My HSC subjects were English Advanced, English Extension, Mathematics Extension 1 & 2, Chinese in Context and Economics. I have a firm and extensive understanding of all my subjects, in particular, the new English syllabuses for Advanced and Extension 1, as well as Chinese in Context, and Mathematics. As a tutor, I put a strong emphasis on versatility and open-mindedness. Being an open-ended subject, English requires an ability to think promptly and with reason, while also maintaining a modicum of sophistication. I can ensure this by going through texts informatively, and also in a pithy and creative manner, so that the content is simplified, engaging, but does not lose its literary depth. Alongside understanding content, to ensure that one is confident and focused during the entire exam, the application of timed practice tasks will be central to my teaching methods (Such teaching manner is applied similarly towards all stages of English, as well as the Chinese in Context syllabus). Moreover, through maintaining a genuine curiosity for Mathematics (and having completed mathematics Extension 1 & 2), I hope that I can share my methods and shortcuts to younger years, which I have accumulated through large amounts of practice tasks and familiarisation of different styles of questions. My purpose as a tutor is to both help students improve and accelerate in academics, and also to serve as a dependable source of empathy and advice in the lead up to the final leg of the high school race. Being a versatile, patient and altruistic person, I am confident that I can tailor my lessons to my student's needs, so as to optimise their performance. With consistent commitment and engagement in a subject, I am prepared to guide students to reach greater possibilities and achievements in their academic pursuits.
