About

Hi, I am David. I am a teacher and tutor with years of experience and a history of success both fields. I do not have an ATAR, because, as you will see from my history, we did not have ATAR s when I began my career. I have a Bachelor of Arts (Adelaide University1969), with majors in English and History (my second passion), and a Diploma in Teaching (Adelaide Teachers College 1968). I also have a Bachelor of Business - Human resource Development from the University of South Australia 1991. I am accredited by NESA at the level of Proficient Teacher (2021). I have a diverse background in my employment. My first career consisted of 21 years in the classroom teaching English, 17 of those years being as the Senior Master (Head of Faculty), before I moved into the S.A. Public Service as a trainer and consultant working in management development. Since then, I have worked in the private sector, successfully running two businesses, both of which focused on the development of people, both customers and staff, in addition to the role of selling product. More recently, having moved into semi-retirement, I am now working as a casual teacher at a local private school, and also as a tutor of English to senior secondary students up to HSC level. In my tutoring, I individualise my approach to each student, based on an initial analysis and diagnosis of their particular needs. I then work to supplement the work of the classroom teacher, and focus on the areas of need identified. I like to challenge the student to continue to improve and become the best student they can be. My extensive life experience enables me to use the knowledge, skills and wisdom I have acquired in a mentoring capacity, as well as assisting the student to pass exams and maximise their grade. I have a passion for literature and learning, and I love to share that passion with my students, so that they too will appreciate it as much as I do. I prefer face-to-face tutoring in students' homes or in a local library within 10 kilometres of my home, but in these times of restricted movement due to covid, all my tutorials are currently conducted online via Skype or Zoom. My Working With Children ID number is WWC1030517E Please contact me to discuss your particular needs, the fee and our availability. I look forward to hearing from you.
