Currently I am a PhD student, working in the field of AI and machine learning. Prior to this I completed my double degrees in mechanical engineering and computer science. I have been a tutor for many years, both for high school and university level students, primarily focused around mathematics and engineering related topics. As someone who has spent a great number of years studying myself I have developed several techniques for both imparting and retaining knowledge. I also have developed skills in the efficient and detailed presentation of knowledge, writing of reports, and other such tasks associated with academic work. As someone who also practices creative writing as a hobby I have a firm grasp of English; both general grammar and how to structure sentences. My typical tutoring style involves working through problems that students have identified previously as difficult. The underlying goal of any such tutoring session should be to further a student's own understanding so that in the future they are able to answer similar questions independently, rather than simply giving a student the answers. This also can involve assisting in writing clear, simple notes to serve as a reference to students when it comes time for test/exam revision. It is also common for students to seek feedback and advice on their assignments.
