[6+ Years Tutoring Experience] [BAND 6 ENGLISH ADVANCED HSC] [90+ ATAR] As an English tutor, my core goal is to empower your child to articulate themselves with clarity and confidence, skills that extend far beyond the HSC classroom. While English is often treated as just another subject, I believe it’s foundational to every aspect of a student's education and future success. In today’s schooling system, students are often encouraged to memorise content and replicate essays. My approach breaks away from this. Instead, I teach students how to understand the intent of a question, craft original responses, and develop the analytical and communication skills that will serve them for life. From this method I have successfully trained a handful of kids to achieve a band 6 in English, coming from a band 3-4. As an Assistant University Tutor in Architecture at UTS, I’ve seen firsthand how high-achieving students can struggle to express themselves clearly in real-world contexts—despite having excelled in English on paper. This is often the result of rote learning rather than genuine understanding. My mission is to change that. Through personalised and engaging sessions, I aim to not only help your child achieve a Band 6 in English, but to equip them with lasting confidence in their voice and ideas. Like many students in high school the subject of English never piqued my interest as I never performed in it. I constantly just passed or failed miserably in my assessments, and with this experience of failure I would be able to resonate with the students I teach, guiding them to success whilst giving them a passion for English. I only really picked up in English in the beginning of year 12, and the rest of my grades right before the HSC examinations. I was barely passing most of the assessments in my subjects apart from English, but just in time for the HSC I managed to score band fives and sixes throughout all my subjects. Through this journey of failure and success I developed philosophies and approaches to my studies which I am eager to share with those who are taught by me which will definitely help in their high school and HSC journey.
