As a drum instructor, it will be my job to teach individuals to read music and play the drums. Also, it is my job to plan a program of studies according to the individual needs of the student and to evaluate these programs and the skill of students. Then, it is up to me to demonstrate and explain the integration of these skills with other musicians and to encourage and initiate recreation/learning experience ie. creating small rock or jazz bands. All making sure that students are having heaps of fun! Over the teaching period i will teach students: READING MUSIC - reading drum transcriptions - exercise reading skills based on specific texts SENSE OF RHYTHM - use of metronome - refine skills in timing, i.e. the ability to sustain an exact tempo for a given period DYNAMICS -volume control through self-discipline imposed by: 1 Style of piece 2 Situation HAND AND FOOT TECHNIQUE -stick holding technique -arm passage technique - proper foot pedal technique CO-ORDINATION - inter-dependence and inter-related use of four limbs through exercises or remedial exercises CARE AND TUNING -all percussion instruments need care
