About

I support families and students to feel enabled and empowered to reach their full potential through academic/career coaching and mentorship. Quick truths: Are you copying notes directly from a different source (textbook/PowerPoint)? If yes, you are memorising. If you are memorising, you are not using your time effectively and aren’t getting a return on investment on your time and grades. If you focus on the syllabus and work on achieving the ‘competencies’ otherwise known as required skills, you can make study transferable across subjects. Spending excessive time on study will cause burnout and result in often average grades and useless notes post assessment. The average take-home assessment/assignment can be completed in a maximum of 10 hours, sometimes in as little as 2 hours if you play it SMART. Don’t write notes on Microsoft Word or on paper flashcards as it is ROTE learning ‘repetitive learning’ and is easy but not all that effective. Learn Excel for studying purposes and use Quizlet to initially learn content. Every subject has a formula for assessment, particularly English and history. Read your textbook twice without making a note or highlighting. If you make notes the first time you read something, you will rewrite the content. Gamify your learning if you can; turn your study into an app! Change your perspective - my job is to constantly try to make myself redundant/no longer needed because the client is working at peak efficiency. I have worked in process improvement at at top six law firm and have just completed the first bit of my MBA without a bachelors, I am a kinesthetic learner and feel passionately about finding the right path for you. Why do I coach? I genuinely care about learning and enjoy coaching outside of my 9-to-5! How does that apply? I have supported countless young people in obtaining jobs and SMART studying. I afford any coaching session to working on a personalised method that reduces the amount of study required for the student to be able to firstly understand their content, which they will be assessed on, and secondly to remember and retain the skill the student has developed through learning that piece of content, also known as a ‘competency’. Here’s what you need to know: NESA offers a document on what teachers are required to teach and assess per each unit in a subject (you can assess this via Google). Technically, you can learn the content in the subject without school (if you are determined and resourceful). This means if you have a poor teacher, it's definitely not the end of the world. You can get into university without an ATAR. You can skip a Bachelor's degree and obtain experience in your industry of interest. After 3-5 years of experience, you can gain entry into a postgraduate certificate (save $30k+, possibly claim the cost on tax, and end up with a higher-level qualification). Here’s what I can offer: Identify whether the student knows the requirements of a subject aka the syllabus. If yes, what’s their situation with content OR ‘notes’. If yes to notes, I can support in automating studying with Excel and Quizlet and develop a custom plan to commit less time to studying and more to achieving A grade results. If no to notes, I can support in finding the correct content and making it relevant Beyond that I am a bubbly personality who loves to make learning fun and find a way together to make school meaningful for you in a sustainable way. Always happy to answer any queries!
