WHY I'M BACK I tutored for four years before stepping away to start my career in technology. And I've genuinely missed it. Watching a student go from dreading a subject to owning it is still some of the most rewarding work I've done so I'm coming back to take on a small number of students. I'd rather work properly with a handful of students than run a factory, so spots are limited. WHO I AM - Graduated Normanhurst Boys Selective High School in 2021 with an ATAR of 98.90 - Band 6 in every single subject I sat - Co-op Scholarship recipient at UTS (Bachelor of Information Technology, graduated with High Distinction) - 4 years tutoring privately and in institutions, 40+ students coached MY HSC MARKS IN THE SUBJECTS I TEACH - English Advanced: 92 - Legal Studies: 96 - Business Studies: 94 (Also: Economics 94, Mathematics Advanced 94, Information Processes & Technology 95, Society & Culture 94) WHAT MY STUDENTS HAVE DONE I'm so proud to say that: - Every one of the 30+ senior students that I've coached through to the HSC has achieved a Band 6 in their subject - Every one of them finished with an ATAR above 90 - A student I picked up in Year 11, sitting near the bottom of his cohort, graduated as the Dux of his school and won a scholarship to his dream degree - Multiple students projected for a Band 4 who finished with a Band 6 result instead HOW I ACTUALLY TEACH Most tutoring is content delivery: explain the concept, hope it sticks, repeat next week. That is not what produces Band 6s in these subjects. English, Legal Studies and Business Studies aren't pure tests of memory. They're skill subjects where the marks come from knowing exactly what the marker wants and being able to produce it under time pressure. Therefore, our sessions will be tailored to exactly that core principle. In our sessions we will: - Build real depth in the subject with understanding that you can adapt to any question the exam throws at you - Find and fix your specific weaknesses: essay structure, short-answer technique, case and example banks, knowledge gaps, exam timing - Workshop actual artefacts together: we mark, rebuild and refine your essays/responses until execution is automatic - Drill exam-style questions until your strong areas are second nature Above all however, I don't just teach, I try to coach. I believe in building genuine relationships with all my students because a student who trusts you will tell you what they don't understand whereas a student who doesn't will nod along and never open up. Everything else is built on that belief in the power of authentic mentorship and it's why I ensure that our time together doesn't just end when the session concludes but that I remain contactable between lessons. SUBJECTS - English: Y7-12 (Junior, Standard and Advanced) - Legal Studies: Years 11-12 - Business Studies: Years 11-12 HOW LESSONS WORK All sessions are online. This means no travel time for you, far easier scheduling around life's other commitments and screen sharing for live essay work (which, in my opinion, is better than sitting side by side with a printout). Sessions are typically one-on-one and are at least 1 hour in duration (2 hours if you're a year 12 student, with the option to have multiple lessons a week) Free 30-minute trial session - no obligation, no charge.
