Dear students and parents,
My name is Indra Roy, I graduated in 2019 from Sydney Grammar School with an ATAR of 99.80, having achieved a Band 6 in all of my subjects. I received academic prizes at school for topping Latin (Year 9, 10) and Maths Extension 1 (Year 12). Currently, I am in my fifth year of Medicine at UNSW.

I have six years of tutoring experience, specialising in high-school Mathematics and Latin, particularly at the HSC level. My deep understanding of the syllabus, paired with a wealth of teaching resources, enables my students to consistently excel in their exams. I am able to engage students of any level through my passionate and empathetic teaching, and I take pride not only in fostering academic success, but also in building meaningful connections with each of my students.
Teaching Methodology:
In Maths, I begin each session with a comprehensive review of classwork before extending students' capabilities with more challenging problems. In preparation for exams, I focus on solving exam-style questions, refining problem-solving skills and minimising silly mistakes with systematic working out techniques. I have an abundance of exam style questions for every topic, particularly at the HSC level, to ensure that students are optimally equipped for exams.
For Latin, HSC-level sessions are dedicated to refining Latin-to-English translation skills, the most crucial aspect of the Latin examination. These sessions foster discussions on common themes and techniques within Latin prose and poetry, and address advanced techniques such as scansion. At a more junior level, lessons equally emphasize English-to-Latin translation – the trickiest part of junior year examinations!

More about myself:
Outside of academic experience, I have a strong passion for football and music. I play the piano, flute, drums and guitar and have been in a rock band for 16 years. I am fluent in French, and can speak German and Spanish.

I offer online tutoring in Maths and Latin at a rate of $90 per hour via Google Meets. I prefer that my students make a commitment to having weekly lessons - sporadic lessons have little impact on a student’s learning!
