About
3430 UCAT (99%) | 99.75 | UNSW Medicine
Hi I’m Selwyn and I am a 5th year medical student at UNSW.
I am offering coaching for:
1) UCAT
2) Selective school placement test and private school scholarship exams
3) Medical school interviews
Why me as your UCAT tutor?
Unlike many ‘UCAT companies’ out there, I have actually sat the UCAT, TWICE (in 2020 & 2021) and achieved one of the top scores in ANZ in 2021 (3430).
Through spending hundreds of hours going through practice questions, mock exams over two years, I have developed a deep understanding of the UCAT and its sub-sections.
In some sense, I would consider my first student to have been myself. Through hard work, trial & error and devising unique but extremely effective strategies, I was able to teach myself how to overcome the common hurdles for each section that every UCAT test taker faces. I also discovered what my preparation was lacking in my 1st attempt that I rectified in my 2nd attempt. (You can learn from MY MISTAKES!!)
This allowed me to improve my score from 2020 to 2021 by 420 POINTS!!!
VR: 650 → 870
DM: 780 → 810
QR: 780 → 880
AR: 800 → 870
(Feel free to message me on FB:selwyn chang for proof of score)
What can I offer you as your UCAT tutor?
I believe I will be able to offer you a lot of value if your goal is to achieve a 99 percentile score.
As your tutor, I will share with you my strategies and the most effective ways to prepare for the UCAT including the best question banks & resources for each of the 4 sub-sections that most resemble the questions in the REAL EXAM.
I am also very flexible with YOUR NEEDS. I can tailor lessons & give detailed advice for each of the 4 sections based on what you need help in. Eg. Do you struggle with ‘speed-reading’ in VR? Do the logical puzzles in DM make no sense? How do you calculate speed-distance-time questions quickly in QR? What elements in order of priority should I be looking for in AR patterns?
I do not believe in a one-size-fits all approach (unlike the generic programs of ‘UCAT companies’) and I will strive to adjust to the way your brain tackles questions and then suggest strategies that will suit you.
I also offer tutoring for primary school students aiming to gain entry into selective schools and scholarships to private schools.
I also offer medicine interview coaching panel interviews, having being invited to 7 medical school interviews. I have mentored numerous students to gain entry to UNSW Medicine.

Reviews
Selwyn really helped me out with my UNSW Medicine interview! We ran through a mock, where he was able to effectively simulate the real interview and also provide very good insights into what the examiners were looking for. Fortunately, I was able to get into UNSW medicine, which can definitely be attributed to his help!
