| 99.80 ATAR | UNSW Medicine | 96 HSC Chemistry Hi! I'm Emily, a graduate of Sydney Girls High School from the Class of 2020 and currently in my final year studying Medicine at UNSW. I offer online tutoring for Year 11 + 12 Biology and Year 12 Chemistry with teaching notes and resources that target the common weaknesses and difficulties. I also provide medical/dental school interview training with mock interview sessions to prepare those aspiring to become doctors or dentists. ~Prelim / HSC Content~ When studying Biology, I found that it is important to understand content fully, rather than simply rote learning. Being such a content-heavy and dense subject, I place a focus on knowing how everything works from the basics of cells, all the way to human disease and immunity. With my HSC experience and having topped my year for Bachelor of Medical Studies in my medical degree, I am well-equipped to tutor these topics. Biology is also a subject where marks seem to disappear because the marking guidelines can be strict and difficult to grasp. Therefore my lessons focus on maximising marks and answering the question to hit the marking criteria. When studying Chemistry, I found that the strong foundations and a well-rounded understanding of the subject were extremely important in ensuring that that not only were silly mistakes reduced, but harder questions that were quite unusual could be easily done through logical reasoning. Especially with the new NESA syllabus where aspects of Chemistry are understanding-based with a strong focus on calculations, my tutoring will allow students to feel comfortable with any kind of question and confident in their studies. Lessons are structured with a quiz in the beginning to ensure that content taught in the previous lesson are well-understood before new content is taught. Students will be given homework so that everything taught within that lesson can be solidified and weaknesses identified. At the end of modules, a module examination will be given under examination conditions so weaknesses can be targeted and worked on. ~Medical/Dental Interviewing~ I also offer medical/dental interview preparation, having interviewed at many medical schools such as UNSW, JMP, UQ, University of Adelaide, JCU as well as dental schools like Adelaide and USyd with offers from many of my first-choice universities. I can provide tips and tricks to help you ace your interview! Sessions are structured as a lesson plus a mock interview.
