About

I offer private tuition for K-10 students who are struggling to achieve at school. As an experienced teacher of over 30 years, I have taught students across both levels of the curriculum. I have extensive experience in teaching students with learning and behavioural diagnoses such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, Aspergers, and ADHD. I specialise in teaching children and adults who struggle with reading, spelling, and writing, and also ESL students and anyone trying to gain functional literacy. I am a qualified linguistic phonics practitioner, and use the phonics program SoundsWrite to teach students with or without a learning diagnosis how to read and spell. This program is tailored for both instructional and remedial reading and spelling and is successful for both children and adults. I am passionate about helping those children who struggle at school and to help them develop the foundational skills and grow in confidence. I believe that each child can be helped to succeed and I give the student the skills to learn on their own and encourage independent learning. I have Certificate III in Auslan and have experience working with children with hearing impairment and I also have experience supporting home-schooled children. I offer lessons at my studio outside Lismore in addition to online lessons. I look forward to discussing with you what will work best for your child.

Education

I am a qualified and experienced Primary teacher and remedial literacy tutor. I have worked with students from early primary level up to Year 10 as well as post-school students trying to complete apprenticeships or TAFE studies. I am a qualified linguistic phonics practitioner and tutor students of all ages who struggle to read, including those with a formal diagnosis of dyslexia/dyspraxia or other learning diagnosis, and also students without a formal diagnosis.
