I am a final year medical student at the University of Melbourne with 9+ years of tutoring experience. I have received an ATAR of 99.95, a raw 50 in Specialist Maths, a raw 49 in Methods, a raw 50 in Biology, and a raw 48 in Literature. For Maths Tutoring: I take a collaborative approach in my lessons. I guide students to identify not only their knowledge gaps but also inefficiencies in their study strategies. Then, I draw from my own experience of experimenting with various study strategies to suggest changes to their study habits. I maintain detailed weekly tracking of each student's progress, constantly adapting my lessons so that they can be at their best on exam day. For Literature Tutoring: For VCE literature, less can be more. I keep my lessons focussed - for each essay, I point out the most important thing the student can fix and how to reliably carry out this fix. If the student succeeds in fixing this one thing, their next essay will almost certainly go up by at least half a point. We continue this until the student can reliably produce 18+/20 essays.
