About

Hi, my name is Jack and I am a current postgraduate student at the University of Melbourne. I really enjoy my maths and science subjects and want to help others in those areas. I want to try to help others succeed by sharing my experience and what I've learnt. I already enjoy helping my peers and younger students with their subjects, and tutoring would be a great opportunity to continue to build on those skills. I have participated in many mentoring programs, such as the BSHS peer support program and the City Cluster program, and as such have experience working with students from primary school to high school. My strengths lie in STEM and English subjects, but I also have experience with Humanities subjects below grade 9. I graduated high school with an ATAR of 99.35, with my class averages above 90%. My strongest subject in high school was English Literature, followed by Chemistry and my Mathematic subjects. I have five years of tutoring experience, including years 7-12, and also currently teach 1st year Chemistry experiments at the University of Melbourne. I have been an A average student for my high school career, and I am currently beginning my postgraduate at UniMelb. I've recently completed a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Chemistry, and will be completing a Masters of Chemistry in physical organic chemistry. When I tutor, I don't just teach the topics, but I also will teach learning techniques and habits, as I find that students with good habits often succeed far more often than those without. I also place emphasis on the fundamental knowledge and concepts that students need to be able to intuit their way through unfamiliar topics and questions. For younger students, my lessons primarily dissect confusing concepts, and focus on explaining and rationalising where these rules and ideas stem from. My past student graduates have all performed well, with my most recent student graduating with an ATAR of 96.90. I'm currently only tutoring online due to a busy schedule. My online lessons will be provided through Zoom, and I handwrite via a digital whiteboard. I also have access to, and can share VCE textbooks, allowing me to teach directly from curriculum when required. If this sounds good to you, please feel free to contact me!
