Hi! My name is Catherine and I am a 2019 graduate from Hornsby Girls High School as an All-Rounders with an ATAR of 99.15.
Across 2020 to 2022, I am pleased to announce that a majority of my Year 12 students have achieved the TOP BAND in HSC English Advanced (Band 6), with one student achieving a STATE RANK and multiple receiving an ATAR OVER 99.
Being a part of one of the ONLY cohorts that has completed the new English syllabus and ranking 1 internally, I have a comprehensive grasp of both the course and what markers are really looking for. I am able to equip students with the necessary skills to do well through developing the student's skills, providing resources and in-depth and critical feedback on essays.
I have vast experience in teaching and even throughout Year 12 provided English Masterclasses to my grade. This played a role in Hornsby ranking second in the state for Advanced English with more than half the cohort achieving Band 6's. I will tailor lessons according to each student’s needs, strengthening their foundations and breaking down texts so it’s easier to understand. Whilst developing effective exam technique and addressing any areas of concern through a results-driven approach, I will focus on the rigorous and often neglected specifics of the HSC English course to ensure that my students stand out from the rest.
I believe that English is a fundamental subject in the HSC and that students must build a strong foundation to succeed. In fully understanding the demands of the course, I am able to offer effective help to students.

Catherine is a brilliant tutor who was a major reason for my state ranking in the HSC English. Without her, I definitely would not of done so well. Throughout Year 12, she integrated practice for final exams, which helped my success in them while also assisting me with the assessments and school work, which was an enormous help.

Without a doubt, Catherine is an extremely high-quality tutor I would recommend for any Year 12 English Advanced students. Throughout the year her attention to detail, experience, and intelligence were invaluable to my achievement of a 99+ ATAR and an English Band Six. Her enthusiasm, patience, and positivity helped improve my skills, knowledge, and enjoyment for a subject I previously dreaded (as well as the occasional help for HSC Economics). Her personal insight into the HSC journey and commitment to my own development is something I much appreciated. I would highly recommend Catherine for any English students of all levels!

Catherine was really friendly and a great tutor. She was flexible over what we went over each lesson and felt I was always getting the most out of them. Over the course of year 12, Catherine's consistent and patient teaching style helped me to became more confident in my essay writing abilities to the point where I could write a quality essay independently. My teachers had also noticed and commented on my improved writing over the year. Would highly recommend!

Catherine tutored me primarily for English Advanced for the HSC. Not only is Catherine highly skilled and knowledgeable, but she was also very supportive throughout the duration of the course and allowed me to move up by 13 ranks in my english cohort. She assisted in my essay structure and the eloquence and cohesiveness of my work, as well as my analysis of texts and consolidating my knowledge in preparation for exams. Her feedback toward my work was exceptionally detailed, which tremendously improved the quality of my internal assignments. I would not have achieved the mark I had without her time and effort! Catherine was also very accommodating towards lesson timing and her kind and positive attitude allowed me to enjoy english- I would highly recommend Catherine for anyone wishing to markedly improve their english performance.

Effective, supportive and patient, Catherine played a major role in my success in the HSC. My internal English rank increased by 15 places after starting lessons with her - I graduated with a 99.50+ ATAR as a result.
