I graduated with an ATAR of 99.70 and a General Exhibition from in 2019, studying chemistry, physics, mathematics methods, literature, music, and french. I'm currently completing my PhD in medicinal chemistry at UWA. I've been tutoring for the last six years, and helped over twenty students bump up their marks. High school moves quickly, and so I find a lot of students benefit most from spending our lessons consolidating the knowledge that they don't get time to digest in class. I find that for highly conceptual subjects like maths or chemistry, breaking down and reinforcing the fundamental concepts before tackling tricky questions, students are less anxious about keeping up with the classwork and develop a more intuitive understanding of the subject. Other students who are more confident on the fundamentals I find benefit more when I push them with tricky questions slightly beyond the basics of the syllabus to push their marks up from the 80% to the 90%.
