D&T, Biology, Investigating Science, Extension Science Tutor
I’m Jess, I’ve recently completed my HSC under the new syllabus receiving a 90+ ATAR, this year I will be starting a Bachelor of Medical Science at UNSW. My main subjects included Engineering Studies, Design & technology, Investigating Science and Biology; all in which I received first place during trials and an accumulative first place in engineering, dt and investigating. For this, I was awarded an excellence in science and TAS. I am the first student within the history of the school to receive a band 6 in design technology.
I am able to help tutor students with their design and technology major work especially with the portfolio, marking their progress along the way as well as how to prepare responses to exams. Students will also receive notes within this subject in which I’ve used during my exams to allow them to revise and plan responses.
As a biology tutor, I will teach based upon the syllabus assisting with terminology, HSC syllabus responses, note taking to achieve maximum marks and clarifications. Additionally the new syllabus requires a depth study (weighing 25-40% of the final grade) for all sciences; thus combining my skills within investigating science I will be able to help in achieving the best possible marks within the assignments in which I’ve always been able to receive a score of 100% within my depth studies.
I was one of 70 students within the state to receive a band 6 for Investigating Science. I will be able to tutor students within this subject or even extension science in which I've made resources. Students will learn how to structure a well-written response to maximize marks within the HSC exam, as well as achieve a good internal result through the assessment tasks. My scientific reports have always received a result of 100%, and has been seen by Kerry Sheehan (head of NESA science) "How awesome is that depth study. Fantastic!". One of my depth studies is currently in scientific review by students in Harvard to be published in their junior article.
