About

Hi everyone! My name is Chris, a medical student on the way to becoming a doctor by the end of 2025! I graduated in 2019 as Dux of St Patrick's College, with an ATAR of 99.70, a 6th place state ranking in Studies of Religion II and a NSW All Rounder's Certificate. I also received a UCAT of 3230 (99th percentile) which earned me a spot in medical school. I have since become a tutor, and tutored and taught approximately 30 students over the last 3 years with proven excellent results. Here were my HSC marks: Chemistry: 96 Mathematics Advanced: 98 Mathematics Extension 1: 96 Mathematics Extension 2: 92 Studies of Religion II : 97 Italian Continuers: 96 English Advanced: 92 I have also received much success at medical school- receiving the prize as dux of my cohort, being recognised at the Dean's Award Ceremony every year, and maintaining a perfect GPA...nothing short of a HD :) Some tutoring facts about me: -I am a published co-author of a book on how to do well in the HSC -I am super passionate about maths and chemistry especially - I even do it in my spare time! -I love to teach, and hope to become a teacher one day at the same time as being a doctor -I also am employed by my university to teach second year medical students, and am particularly trained to deliver effective lessons. I received an Australasian award for outstanding teaching by the PASS Program Australasia, which recognised me as one of the best teachers of all universities in the Australasian region. I have recently been promoted to a new position where I also "teach the teachers" on how they can better their teaching approach. CHEMISTRY I have always had an immense passion for science and maths. In fact I remember having a science-themed birthday party for my 9th birthday. This carried through to the HSC where I received an overall HSC exam mark of 96 for chemistry (my absolute favourite subject!). I have since followed up my studies as a chemistry major at university and even received a scholarship for the course. This was prior to starting my medical studies. I now do chemistry on the side just for fun :) I have proven band 6 results to my HSC chemistry students and focus particularly on ensuring chemistry is learnt from first principles and not rote learned. This is the key to chemistry success! MATHS I finished my Mathematics Advanced HSC course in year 11 and received a HSC mark of 98. I then went on to do Mathematics Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 2 in 2019 and received marks of 96 and 92, respectively. I have also continued my maths studies into university and done further level mathematics. My students have received many Band 6s for their maths studies, with marks ranging up to a 97 with my guidance. Like chemistry, I have a genuine love for maths and also do it for fun in my free time. STUDIES OF RELIGION With a HSC mark of 97, and a 6th place state ranking, I also have so much to share to any student undertaking either the Studies of Religion I or II course! In fact, my published book focusses on how to succeed in this subject. From fabulous state-ranking notes, essay scaffolds, listless evidence, to a deep knowledge of the all the niches of the course, I have so much to offer and give to my students. Whilst I don't routinely tutor this on a weekly basis, I have helped a number of students with assignments or studying right before exams! ITALIAN Not being from Italian descent has given me a very effective perspective to teaching and learning the language. It's one thing for a native to try and teach a language, although, it's incredibly hard to teach, as language and grammar rules are natural, not actually understood and therefore teachable. With a mark of 96, I have learnt a lot about the language and would love to help other students too, foster their love for, and knowledge of the Italian language. I have tutored approx 5 students for Italian, who have all been so happy with the lessons and eve seen tangible increases. UCAT Finally, I am available for UCAT tutoring. The first time I sat the exam, I received a mediocre score of 2720. However, I knew my approach to the exam was flawed and inconsistent. The following year I worked my tail off to learn the best strategies to approaching the exam and the tips and tricks to answering the questions with speed and accuracy. This took my score up to 3230 the following year (99th percentile). An increase in 500 over a year is a very significant change, and I would love to share my success and the strategies with the next generation of doctors. I have tutored 2 students for UCAT so far. Overall, I truly love teaching and tutoring, and it has become my favourite pastime outside of my medical studies. There is something special about sharing your knowledge with people, and I have put in a tremendous amount of effort for the 30 students I have tutored to date. I cannot wait to do this with many more to come.
