About

Hi! After graduating from college in the south of France I am now in my second year of university, studying science of education in a multidisciplinary course designed for teaching in France, as well as an online humanities degree with Paris Nanterre university. I have decided to return to Australia to reunite with my family after studying 5 years abroad. I would love to tutor French to all ages and levels. Let me tell you a bit about myself! I am fluent in French and have studied in the south of France since the age of 16. In year 10 I boarded during the week and stayed with my french grandparents on the weekends. In year 11 I stayed with multiple host families. During my last year of college, I lived independently in a studio close to my school. I spent my first year of university at Nice, which I completed with distinctions, before moving to the north of France to pursue a selective teaching degree. I recently completed my last semester in Argentina as part a a university exchange program. I also have tutoring experience from my job at Kumon, where I supported kids of all ages with English and younger children with mathematics. This has helped me understand the best approach with children, who learn best in an active and engaging environment with a set focus. Last year I worked as a teacher in an English center while studying in France, and as an English assistant in a high-priority zone elementary school. I attended some of year 11 at Narrabundah College in the IB diploma program. I have also graduated from the PYP (primary years program) and the MYP (middle year program) for IB, so I am very familiar with the curriculum and assessment types. While the languages have always been my strong subjects, I have endured a relentless struggle with STEM subjects. In year 7, my average marks in science really impacted me. It took perseverance and resilience for me to end up in the highest science class receiving A's for each assessment task, so much so that achieved the award for application to studies. I was then able to study both chemistry and biology in college. I believe that this experience is valuable to my tutoring ability in these subjects, as I truly understand and empathise with the difficulty many face and am armed with the strategies I have learned in order to improve. I believe I would be a great support for French streamers who are struggling a bit with the workload, as I am familiar with the french school system. For families familiar with the BAC, I obtained a 15 in the french written and oral exam. My grade average in Terminale (year 12) was 16.5 and I came first in my class. I am truly passionate about teaching languages as I feel that learning French and then Spanish has given me so many wonderful opportunities. I understand how intimidating learning a foreign language for the first time can be and would love to provide as much support and guidance as possible. Thanks for reading about me! Sienna

Reviews

Highly recommend!! I employed Sienna for my son who was really struggling in his high-school french class. She proved to be a very skilful teacher with effective communication style. Within 10 weeks my son's marks had moved from a 'C' (around 50%) to a 'B' (over 75%). I couldn't be happier and my son is much more confident.
