I'm Stuart. I tutor math and science, in person around Newcastle and the Central Coast, or online.
Background
PhD in Experimental Nuclear Physics, First-Class Honours in Theoretical Physics, Masters in Statistics, and 12 years of tutoring experience. I also work as a senior data scientist in medical research, which keeps the applied side of what I teach current.
What I tutor
Years 1 to 6: foundational math and basic science
Years 7 to 9: curriculum support and extension
Years 10 to 12: Math (all levels including Extension), Physics, Chemistry
University and postgraduate: statistics, data science, thesis and research support
How I teach
Most students who get stuck in math or science aren't missing steps, they're missing the reasoning underneath. I focus on the why, because that's what holds up under unfamiliar exam questions. Sessions are planned around what each student actually needs, and they get access to the notes and practice problems I've built up over the years.
Track record
Eight former students have gone on to study Medicine, and twelve more into Masters or PhD programs.

Years 10 to 12: $80/hr
Years 7 to 9: $60/hr
Years 1 to 6: $50/hr
Group sessions: $50/hr per student
