I have 30 years experience in teaching and tutoring students: in a school learning support setting and through private tutoring. When tutoring I use direct or explicit instruction whereby I teach the student the content and explain the steps necessary to complete the task. I provide opportunities for the student to practice at his or her pace and gain confidence at each stage. Each tutoring session is tailored to the student's requirements. Over the past few years I have helped year 12 students prepare for their external exams. It is not too late to ask for extra support and advice. As well as tutoring students in specific subject areas I am able to assist students to improve their organisational and study skills. I am a patient teacher who understands that tutoring may be a daunting prospect for some students. Previous students whom I have taught have achieved improved results and gained self-confidence.
