I have 30 years experience in teaching and tutoring students in a school learning support setting and private tutoring. When tutoring I use direct or explicit instruction whereby I teach the student the content and the steps necessary to complete the task. I provide opportunity for the student to practice at his or her pace and gain confidence at each stage. Each tutoring session is tailored to the student's requirements. As well as tutoring students in specific subject areas I able to assist students to improve their organisational and study skills. I am a patient teacher who understands that tutoring may be a daunting prospect for some students. Previous students whom I have taught have achieved improved results and gained self-confidence.
