|| UNSW Actuarial Studies | 97.85 ATAR | HSC WORKSHOP PRESENTER | 4+ YEARS' EXPERIENCE TEACHING ||
Hi, my name is Andrew and I graduated from Fort Street High School in 2021 with an ATAR of 97.85. I have over four years' worth of experience (1000+ hours) privately tutoring HSC students and presenting HSC revision workshops at NSW high schools, with ~𝟖𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟔 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲'𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies/Computer Science at UNSW, and am a friendly and motivated person that strives to make my students achieve their potential in mathematics and economics. I was ranked 1st internally at FSHS in HSC Economics, and I also have completed the HSC Mathematics Advanced and Extension 1 courses as a Year 11 accelerated student. My results in the relevant HSC and University subjects are:
HSC:
Mathematics Advanced (2020): 97
Mathematics Extension 1 (2020): 94
Mathematics Extension 2 (2021): 93
Economics (2021): 93
University:
ECON1101 (Microeconomics): 90 HD
ECON1102 (Macroeconomics): 89 HD
Why me?
I know just how difficult it is to study for humanities subjects like Economics where there is just so much you need to understand. Having ranked 1st internally at Fort Street High School, I will be able to teach you the harder concepts as well the most efficient way to remember content for your exams. In addition, I will assist you in structuring and writing that perfect 20/20 essay. Out of class time, I will be able to provide you with free feedback on essays, as well as plenty of past papers to complete, which I will mark and comment on. Students are free to ask for help on any economics question which they are unsure about, and I also give my students an appropriate amount of newspaper and JSTOR articles to add depth to their essays.
Having tutored the new mathematics courses (Advanced, Extension 1, Extension 2) and Economics extensively over the past 4 years and taken these courses myself, I have a thorough understanding of every concept all still vivid in my head, as well as the intricacies and common mistakes and traps that many students can make. I am highly adaptable in the way I teach – the pace and focus of each lesson are tailored to your needs. Lessons will develop not only your ability to tackle all relevant questions types in examinations, but MORE importantly, a deeper understanding of core concepts.
For mathematics, I will be able to teach students from Year 6, where they will start preparing for the selective schools test, all the way to Year 12 Mathematics Extension 2. I have an abundant amount of HSC resources including many school textbooks (Maths in Focus, Cambridge Maths, New Senior Maths, Oxford, Jacaranda, Terry Lee and Mastering Mathematics/Carrotsticks), past exam papers and quality notes, worksheets and revision material to ensure that my students will get the best possible results.
I will be able to tutor any student that lives within a 15 minute drive of the Hurstville area at their home, in a public library or online for $100/hr. I also have a current Working With Children Check which I can produce upon request.
