About
Hi, my name is Andrew and I graduated from Fort Street High School in 2021 with an ATAR of 97.85. I currently tutor HSC students and am studying a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies/Computer Science at UNSW. I am a friendly and motivated person that strives to make my students achieve their potential in mathematics and economics. I was ranked 1st internally at FSHS in HSC Economics, and I also have completed the new 2020 HSC Mathematics Advanced and Extension 1 courses as a Year 11 accelerated student. My results in the relevant HSC subjects are:
Mathematics Advanced (2020): 97
Mathematics Extension 1 (2020): 94
Mathematics Extension 2 (2021): 93
Economics (2021): 93
Why me?
I know just how difficult it is to study for humanities subjects like Economics where there is just much you need to understand. Having ranked 1st internally at FSHS, I will be able to teach you the harder concepts as well the most efficient way to memorise content for your exams. In addition, I will assist you in structuring and writing that perfect 20/20 essay. Out of class time, I will be able to provide you with free feedback on essays, as well as plenty of past papers to complete, which I will mark and comment on. Students are free to ask for help on any economics question which they are unsure about, and I also give my students an appropriate amount of newspaper and JSTOR articles to add depth to their essays.
Also, as I have just learned the new Year 11 and 12 syllabus for the new mathematics courses, I have a thorough understanding of every concept all still vivid in my head, as well as the intricacies and common mistakes and traps that many students can make. I am highly adaptable in the way I teach – the pace and focus of each lesson are tailored to your needs. Lessons will develop not only your ability to tackle all relevant questions types in examinations, but MORE importantly, a deeper understanding of core concepts.
For mathematics, I will be able to teach students from Year 6, where they will start preparing for the selective schools test, all the way to Year 12 Mathematics Extension 2. I have an abundant amount of HSC resources including many school textbooks (Maths in Focus, Cambridge Maths, New Senior Maths, Terry Lee and Mastering Mathematics/Carrotsticks), past exam papers and quality notes, worksheets and revision material to ensure that my students will get the best possible results.
I will be able to tutor any student that lives in the Eastern Suburbs region at their home, in a public library or online. I also have a current Working With Children Check which I can produce upon request. I charge $50 per hour for students in Years 6 - 10 and $60 per hour for students in Years 11 and 12, however I can offer the first hour of the first lesson at half price as a trial.
