My name is Carina and I graduated with an ATAR of 99.90 in 2016 as School Captain of Queenwood School in Sydney. I graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours at the ANU, where I was a Tuckwell Scholar. I have interned at the Reserve Bank of Australia, in consulting, and have three years of economics research assistant experience across different research settings at the ANU, University of Melbourne, and Monash University. I currently work as a consultant. I provide tutoring in maths, english, french and economics. In my own HSC results I received the following results: Extension 1 Maths: 96 Extension 2 Maths: 91 English advanced: 94 Economics: 97, 10th in the State (NSW) French: 98 (C1 DALF certified) I received a High Distinction grade average for both of my university degrees, and graduated with first class honours. I really enjoy working with children and students of all ages and have seven years experience now tutoring primary and high school students in both Canberra and Sydney. I have helped high school students transform results from bottom of the class/fear of failure to top band results through a rigorous focus on addressing weak foundational areas, strategic approach that focuses on exposure to as many novel practice questions as possible, and development of independent problem solving strategies to address challenging questions. Among my primary school students, I have helped children who complain of hating maths rediscover a love of maths and develop confidence by applying maths to fun applications, challenging them through extension activities, and targeting weak areas that cause uncertainty and frustration. With all my students I focus on: - Ensuring a strong foundation by immediately addressing any gaps that students have from previous year levels and targeting the most challenging areas - Developing confidence, self-sufficiency and enjoyment in the subjects - Providing guidance on effective exam and assignment techniques, as well as ways to study efficiently to ensure students can maintain a balanced schedule I equip students with the skills and confidence to work effectively and independently in their future schooling and tertiary studies.
